The People's Justice Project was co-founded by attorneys Joseph Biko Doherty and Renee Lizarraga in 2020. 


Doherty and Lizarraga are former deputy public defenders in Santa Barbara County. 


Doherty and Lizarraga are graduates of the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and licensed to practice law in all state courts in California and the federal court in the Central District of California.
